A List of Companies Started by Engineers

Engineers are often ridiculed as not having enough "social skills" or "business skills" to start a company. Yet when you look at most companies, they were started by an engineer. The following is a (growing) list of companies, most well-known, started by engineers.

This is also a subtle dig at anyone who is studying business in college, particularly with hopes of someday leading a large technical company. The best person to run a large company is someone who thoroughly understands the product, usually an engineer or any other technical person depending on the industry.

Let me add also that "engineer" does not necessarily mean someone who has the degree. It is anyone who did the engineering work, especially those who came up with a new product.

Be inspired by this list of great men!
